17 properties of Mumbai blasts prime accused Tiger Memon will soon be auctioned; SAFEMA has seized 8 of these, including flats in Mahim’s Al Hussaini Building.

Several properties registered in the name of Tiger Memon, the main accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts, and his family will soon be put up for auction. According to sources, the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act Authority (SAFEMA) has received details of a total of 17 properties belonging to Tiger Memon and his family from the special TADA court.

SAFEMA has taken possession of eight of these properties, including three flats in the Al Husseini Building in Mahim, central Mumbai. This is where Tiger Memon, his five brothers, and their mother once lived and where a key meeting of the conspiracy took place. It was in this Al Husseini Building that Tiger Memon and his associates planted explosives in vehicles.

The Mumbai blasts killed 257 people.

According to information, four properties are currently pending in court, while the process of taking possession of five others is ongoing. The central government has initiated the process of evaluating previously seized properties. The horrific bombings in Mumbai on March 12, 1993, killed 257 people and involved explosions at 12 locations across the city.

Prime accused Tiger Memon remains at large.
Prime accused Tiger Memon has been absconding since then and is believed to be hiding in Pakistan. His brother, Yakub Memon, was hanged in 2015 for his role in the same conspiracy, while other family members were sentenced to varying sentences by the TADA court.
