A major road accident occurred in Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh, on Friday. A private bus carrying passengers plunged into a 200-meter-deep gorge. Eight people died in the bus accident, while five were injured. Chaos erupted at the scene after the incident.
The bus was completely destroyed in the accident.
The private bus was traveling from Shimla to Kupvi. It is reported that the “Jeet Coach” bus rolled down into a gorge in Haripur Dhar, in the Renukaji assembly constituency of Sirmaur district. The bus fell into the gorge just before the Haripur Dhar market. The bus was reportedly overcrowded. The bus was completely destroyed in the accident. After the incident, a crowd of people rushed to the scene and pulled the dead and injured from the bus.
The death toll may rise.
Sirmaur SP Nishchint Singh Negi said, “Eight people have died in an accident in Sirmaur district near Haripur Dhar when a private bus going from Kupvi to Shimla fell off the road. The death toll may rise. There were 30-35 people on the bus, and we are awaiting further information. I am going to the spot. Police and other rescue teams are trying to rescue the injured.”
