Maharashtra’s biggest infrastructure project, Samruddhi Mahamarg, is completely ready, the country’s Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis can inaugurate it soon.

Maharashtra’s biggest infrastructure project, Samruddhi Highway, is completely ready. Finishing work of its last phase is going on, which will be completed in 15 days. The last phase of this 701 km long highway, 76 km from Igatpuri to Mumbai, has been completed. Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis can inaugurate it soon.

This highway will help in reducing the distance between Mumbai and Nagpur from 16 hours to 8 hours. It is being considered a game changer for the social and economic development of Maharashtra.

CM Devendra Fadnavis’s dream project
This dream project of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis is the result of his vision. He entrusted special responsibility to Dr. Anil Kumar Baliram Gaikwad, Managing Director of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), to complete this project. Dr. Gaikwad is a recipient of the Best Engineer Award and National Gaurav Award. They have completed many big projects before time. Along with this project, they are working on many important projects like Bandra-Versova Sea Link, Thane Creek Bridge and Mumbai-Pune Expressway Missing Link.

What is special about Samruddhi Mahamarg?

  • Length: This 701 km long and 6 lane highway is the most high-tech expressway in the country.
  • Speed: It has been designed for a speed of 150 km per hour.
  • What will be the facilities?
  • 65 flyovers, 24 interchanges, 6 tunnels.
  • 30 fuel stations, 21 ambulances and quick response vehicles.
  • 8 km long high-tech twin tunnel, which is equipped with German technology.
  • More than 100 structures have been built for wildlife protection so that wildlife can cross the expressway safely.

Social and economic impact

This project has provided direct connectivity to 10 districts of Maharashtra and indirect connectivity to 14 districts. 18 new smart towns will be developed. At the same time, local industries and employment will get a boost. Also, transport costs will be reduced and economic activities will accelerate.

Achievements and figures

In the last two years, 1.52 crore vehicles have traveled on the Samridhi Highway, earning Rs 1100 crore as toll.

New Year’s gift to the public

This project is very special for the government of Narendra Modi at the Center and Devendra Fadnavis in the state. From the beginning of the new year, the people of the state will be able to take advantage of this highway.

Final phase of Samridhi Highway Project
This project has been named Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Samridhi Highway. Its construction finishing work is now in its final stage. This 701 km long, six-lane expressway will take the development and connectivity of Maharashtra to new heights. The project was started in January 2019, which was targeted to be completed in three years by December 2022. However, it was delayed by about 1.5 years due to the Kovid-19 epidemic.

Journey from the first phase till now

  • 11 December 2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of this highway.
  • 4 March 2023: 25 km work completed till Igatpuri in the third phase.
  • So far 625 km part has been opened to the public.

Final Phase: Igatpuri to Bhiwandi
The last phase of Samriddhi Highway from Igatpuri to Bhiwandi is the most challenging. It faced many technical hurdles due to Sahyadri Ghat and major rivers.

Landmark: Longest and widest tunnel

  • The main attraction of this phase is the approximately 8 km long tunnel, which is built 425 meters below the mountain.
  • Width: 17.5 meters
  • Height: 9 meters
  • Lane: 3+1 lanes with a standby lane.
  • This tunnel is one of the most high-tech tunnels ever built in India.

  • Based on German technology.

  • Equipped with sensor based pipelines and water tanks.
  • A helipad has also been built here keeping in mind the need for air lift or air ambulance in future.
  • 26 cross passages

  • Public announcement and emergency phone system.
  • Ventilation system equipped with high performance jet fans.
  • Speed ​​capacity of 150 kmph

Samridhi Mahamarg is the first highway in India, which is designed for a speed of 150 kmph. This highway is built with high quality concrete to be durable for 100 years.

Protection of wildlife
Around 800 structures have been built for the uninterrupted movement of wildlife.

Smart toll policy
Exit toll policy is applicable on this highway. No toll will be charged at the entry. Your travel distance will be recorded electronically and will be charged according to the km at the time of exit.
