Maldives Defense Minister Maumoon will meet Rajnath Singh today, various aspects of bilateral cooperation will be discussed

Nearly eight months after India withdrew its military personnel from Maldives, the island nation’s Defence Minister Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon will visit India on a three-day visit from Wednesday to strengthen military ties.

During this, Maumoon will hold extensive talks with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in the national capital. He will also meet several senior officials.

The Defense Ministry said on Tuesday that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will hold a bilateral meeting with Maldives Defense Minister Mohammed Ghassan Maumoon in New Delhi on January 8. It said that the two ministers will review various aspects of bilateral defense cooperation, including training, exercises and defense projects to enhance the capacity of the ‘Maldives National Defense Force’ as well as the supply of defense equipment.

 

Maumoon will also visit Goa and Mumbai

The ministry said in a statement, “Maldives holds a special place in India’s ‘Neighbor First’ policy. The aim of this policy is to bring stability and prosperity in the Indian Ocean region.” Maumoon will also visit Goa and Mumbai. It is worth noting that India had withdrawn about 80 of its military personnel deployed in the Indian Ocean archipelago after the demand of Maldives’ pro-China President Mohammad Muizzu. After this entire incident, there was serious tension in the relations between the two countries.

Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh said on Tuesday that the rapid increase in the air force of China and Pakistan is a matter of concern. He was addressing the 21st Subroto Mukherjee Seminar. He said, as far as China is concerned, not only the number, but also the technology is increasing rapidly. We recently saw the flight of the new generation fighter aircraft, which they have launched as a stealth fighter aircraft.

The Air Force Chief emphasized that if India aims to become a developed country, then I think the aerospace sector will make an important contribution to it. Defense is a sector that needs to be developed. We need to be powerful enough to be able to deter our opponents so that we can focus on our progress and development.

We have concerns from both northern and western adversaries

He said, we have concerns from both northern and western adversaries. Both are increasing their air forces very fast, whether it is fighter platforms, enablers, systems, networking, radars, they are growing very fast. The seminar on ‘Self-reliance in Aerospace: Way Forward’ was organized by think tank Center for Air Power Studies in collaboration with Society of Indian Defense Manufacturers (SIDM India).

 

Army has not yet received even 40 Tejas aircraft

In his address, AP Singh emphasized the need to achieve self-reliance in the defense sector in this area. He said that we need to identify how we get on that self-reliant track. Slow production rate Air Chief Marshal AP Singh said that the army has not yet received even 40 Tejas aircraft. He said that production agencies will have to invest in their advanced manufacturing processes.
