In the early phase of his job, he worked in the solid propulsion area of ​​​​sounding rockets and augmented satellite launch vehicles (ASLV) and polar satellite launch vehicles (PSLV) at Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC). Narayan was earlier the director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Center (LPSC). Narayan has been working as a scientist in the field of rocket and spacecraft propulsion for the last 4 decades.

He contributed significantly to the process planning, control and implementation of ablative nozzle systems, composite motor cases and composite igniter cases. Apart from this, Narayan has worked on major rocket launches like ISRO’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).

How much education has V. Narayan?

V. Narayan has obtained M.Tech degree in Cryogenic Engineering from IIT Kharagpur with first rank. He has also done PhD in Aerospace Engineering in the year 2001. V. Narayan received a silver medal from IIT Kharagpur for securing first rank in M.Tech. He was also given a gold medal by the Aeronautical Society of India.

He has received many awards

He has received ASI Award for Rocket and Related Technology, Team Award, Excellence Award and Performance Excellence Award from High Energy Materials Society of India and Team Excellence Award from ISRO. Apart from this, he has also been awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) from Sathyabama University, Chennai.

He has been awarded the Distinguished Alimony Student Award-2018 by IIT Kharagpur, National Design Award-2019 by National Design and Research Forum of the Institution of Engineers (India) and National Aeronautical Prize-2019 by Aeronautical Society of India (AESI).
