Cases of HMP virus are being reported continuously in the country. A total of 15 cases have been reported so far. The first case was found in Assam on Saturday. Doctors say that the condition of the child is stable and there is nothing to worry about.
Officials said that the child is being treated at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh. Now his condition is stable. AMCH Superintendent Dr. Dhrubjyoti Bhuiyan said that the child was admitted to the government hospital four days ago due to cold-related symptoms.
Doctor said this is a common virus
The hospital superintendent said that HMPV infection was confirmed yesterday after receiving the test results from ICMR-RMRC located in Lahaul. Bhuiyan said that samples are regularly sent to the Indian Council of Medical Research for testing in influenza and flu-related cases.
He said that this was a routine investigation. During which HMPV infection has been detected. The child’s condition is stable now. This is a common virus, and there is nothing to worry about.
110 cases were found in 2014
Dr. Vishwajit Borkakoti, senior scientist at ICMR’s Regional Medical Research Center located in Lahowal (Dibrugarh), said that since 2014, we have detected 110 cases of HMPV in Dibrugarh district. This is the first case of this season. It is detected every year and this is nothing new.
