A YouTuber who claimed that Assamese women have tantric powers had to pay a heavy price for making such a comment. He was on the radar of everyone from the Chief Minister’s Office to the DGP for spreading misinformation on Assam’s history and traditions on social media. On Saturday, the YouTuber apologized for his alleged comment. He also assured that he would verify any further information before making it public.

A senior police officer said that the YouTuber’s name is Abhishek Kar. He has described himself as a businessman, investor and consultant in the description of his YouTube channel. The police have registered a case against him for making derogatory comments and spreading misinformation in YouTube videos. Along with this, an investigation has also been started in this matter. YouTuber Abhishek has now apologized. However, before this he was on the radar of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and the Director General of Police (DGP).

Assam government expressed displeasure over the comment
The Assam government had expressed displeasure over the comment made by Abhishek Kar in the podcast. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) wrote in a post on the social media platform ‘X’ on Friday, “A video from a YouTube channel named Riya Upreti, is in circulation where an individual named Abhishek Kar is seen making unacceptable comments on Assam’s history and traditions. Appropriate action may be initiated against the said individual for spreading misinformation.”

Reacting to this, Director General of Police GP Singh said that legal action will be taken against the YouTuber. Additional Director General of Police (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta said on Saturday that an FIR has been registered against the accused. Gupta said, “He has made objectionable comments and we have started the process of investigation.” At the same time, the YouTuber apologized and claimed that he did not intend to hurt anyone.

‘Women have unique tantric powers’

YouTuber Abhishek Kar mentioned a village in Assam in a video on his YouTube channel named Riya Upreti. In a part of his video, he claimed that there is a village in Assam where tantric practices are prominent. There women have such power that they can turn a person into a goat and then back into a human. Meanwhile, the YouTuber was accused of spreading misinformation and had to apologize.

Reacting to the CMO’s post, the YouTuber wrote on ‘X’. ‘I apologize to the public, the Chief Minister’s Office and GP Singh or every concerned party who have been hurt. My intention was not to hurt anyone and in future, care will be taken to ensure that this does not happen again.’ He assured that in future, any information received from the other party will be verified before making it public.
