BJP will soon get a new national president, the date is almost fixed; names of these leaders are in the race

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will appoint its new national president after the Delhi Assembly elections. Sources have said that the election of the party president is likely to be held between February 10 and February 20. Current president JP Nadda will continue to lead the BJP till the Delhi elections. His term as president ended in January 2024, but Nadda’s term was extended by a year keeping in mind the Lok Sabha elections.

The process of BJP’s organisational elections has begun. Members of the National Council and State Council are being elected now. At least 50% of the state units will have to complete their organisational elections before the election of the national president. So far only four states have completed the process of electing their state presidents. According to BJP leaders, the organisational elections are being held on schedule and will be completed on time.

Who will become the national president of BJP?

The selection of the new national president of BJP will be done with the approval of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat. Many names have been floated by sources in this race so far. However, no official announcement has been made by the BJP yet. The names of Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and party general secretary Vinod Tawde are being discussed in the race for the new national president of BJP. Apart from this, the name of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is also being taken in political circles. According to sources, the possibility of either Vinod Tawde and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan along with Bhupendra Yadav is strong.

The names of Dharmendra Pradhan and Bhupendra Yadav were also in discussion in the last organizational elections, but ultimately this role was handed over to JP Nadda. These three leaders have accumulated experience through their work within the party. Bhupendra Yadav is from Rajasthan. Dharmendra Pradhan comes from Odisha. Vinod Tawde is from Maharashtra. All three leaders are considered close to Amit Shah.

According to the party’s constitution, only a person who has been a member of the party for at least 15 years can be made the national president. Earlier, from 2010 to 2013, Nitin Gadkari was in charge of the organization. Rajnath Singh was the national president of BJP from 2005 to 2009 and then from 2013 to 14. Amit Shah took charge of BJP from 2014 to 2020.
