A passenger plane has caught fire at a South Korean airport. All 176 people on board have been evacuated safely. Yonhap, the leading news agency here, reported that a fire broke out in the rear seat of a passenger plane at an international airport in South Korea’s second largest city on Tuesday, forcing the evacuation of 176 people on board. The news agency reported that the Air Busan plane, which took off from Gimhae International Airport in southeastern Busan to Hong Kong, caught fire at around 10.30 pm local time (1330 GMT).
Yonhap said a total of 169 passengers and seven flight attendants were evacuated via inflatable slides, although no information was given about the cause of the fire. It said one person was injured, but gave no other details.
The plane turned into a fireball
Let us tell you that the worst aviation accident in South Korea took place last month. On December 29, a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Thailand to Muan crashed and turned into a fireball after hitting a concrete barrier. The accident killed 179 of the 181 passengers and crew members on board.
