The central government on Tuesday shared big information about the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The government has said that more than 8.5 crore treatments have been done under the Ayushman Bharat scheme till January 31, 2025. Union Health Minister JP Nadda gave this information while answering a question in the Rajya Sabha. Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, 4.2 crore treatments have been done in government hospitals and 4.3 crore treatments in private hospitals.

Which states do not have Ayushman Bharat?

All states and union territories in the country except West Bengal and the national capital have joined this scheme. Nadda said that AB-PMJAY is implemented through trust medium, insurance medium and mixed (hybrid) medium. He said that currently this scheme is being implemented in 25 states through trust medium, seven through insurance medium and two states through hybrid medium.

Know about this scheme

Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is an important scheme of the central government. Under this scheme, people are given health cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year. There are about 55 crore beneficiaries of this scheme in the country. 12.37 crore families are getting benefits under the scheme.

Elderly people above 70 years also benefit
Health Minister JP Nadda has said that recently Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana has been extended to six crore elderly people above 70 years. This is related to 4.5 crore families. While giving the cover of Ayushman Yojana, the socio-economic status of the elderly beneficiary is not considered. Under the scheme, Vaya Vandana Card is given to the elderly.
