The court has given its verdict in a murder case in Rohtas, Bihar, not after one or two but after 27 years. Under which 19 accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment. The case is of Alampur village of Shivagar police station area of Rohtas. Five accused of this murder have already died. The court of Additional Sessions Judge IV Anil Kumar announced the punishment for the remaining 19 accused on Thursday.
The court has also imposed a fine of 50 thousand on all the accused. It has also been said that if the accused do not pay the fine, then they will have to undergo an additional 6 months of imprisonment. The accused who have been sentenced include Umashankar Mahato, Bali Mahato, Santan Mahato, Ramendra Mahato, Arjun Mahato, Hira Ram Mahato, Dashrath Mahato and Ramchandra Mahato.
The court called the incident heinous
Apart from this, Sunil Mahato, Rajeshwar Mahato, Premchand Mahato, Parmanand Mahato and Vishwanath Mahato, Ashok Mahato, Guput Mahato, Ramnath Mahato, Arun Mahato, Ramashish Mahato, Umesh Mahato were also sentenced to life imprisonment by the court. While giving the verdict, the court called the incident heinous which was done with helpless people. The complaint of the case was lodged in the local police station by Sanjay Mali, a resident of Alampur. All the accused are residents of village Alampur police station Shivsagar.
The case is of October 1997
The incident is of October 1997. According to the complainant Sanjay, on the day of the incident, at around 6 am, some people armed with weapons came to his house and brutally murdered his uncle Jang Bahadur Mali at the door. During this, Munir Mali, who came to save his uncle, was beaten up badly, however, somehow Munir saved his life and escaped from there. Meanwhile, the accused caught Vinod Mali and killed him. He told that Vinod’s head was separated from the body and the body was dragged and thrown into the Jagjivan canal. They took the head to the jungle.
5 accused died during the trial
This incident created a stir in the area. A complaint was filed against 20 named accused and seven other accused. After which the police started their investigation. The police filed a chargesheet against 27 people in the court. However, 5 accused died during the trial period. 19 accused were facing trial in the case. During the hearing, 9 witnesses were presented in the court, after hearing the arguments of the defense and prosecution, the court finally gave its verdict and sentenced the accused to life imprisonment.
