Bijapur: An encounter is going on between Naxalites and security forces in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh since Sunday morning. 12 Naxalites are reported to have been killed in this encounter. This encounter is going on in Indravati Tiger Reserve National Park area. DRG and STF teams are engaged in the operation against Naxalites, who had received information about the presence of a large number of Naxalites in the area. Bijapur SP has confirmed the encounter. So far, many items including automatic weapons have been recovered from the Naxalites.

Bastar Police said that 12 Naxalites have been killed in an encounter with security forces in the forest under the National Park of Bijapur district. The search operation is still going on. Information is coming out that the number of Naxalites killed may increase further. Bastar Police confirmed that two soldiers have been martyred in the encounter and two soldiers are injured.

Injured soldiers sent to hospital

Security forces are continuously conducting operations in Naxal-affected areas of Chhattisgarh. This encounter has been going on since 8 am. The area in which the operation is going on is adjacent to the border of Maharashtra. The soldiers killed in the encounter have been sent to Raipur by helicopter for treatment. The sound of gunfire is being heard in the entire area at this time.

Confirming the encounter, Bastar IG Sundarraj P had said that the security forces had started the action by surrounding a large cadre of Naxalites. In this, the team of DRD, STF, Cobra 2022 and CRPF 222 Battalion conducted a joint operation.
