Bulandshahr: A heart-wrenching news is coming from Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh. According to the information given by the police, a 22-year-old girl from a village in Bibinagar police station area of the district committed suicide by setting herself on fire. The girl was to get married on March 3 but it was cancelled after blackmailing by a man, after which she embraced death. Secunderabad Police Circle Officer Purnima Singh said, ‘The victim’s suicide note revealed that she was forced to commit suicide due to alleged harassment by a man named Rakesh Sharma.’
‘Rakesh extorted more than Rs 2 lakh from the girl’
CO Purnima Singh said that in the suicide note, the girl has said that she is giving up her life under the pressure of a man named Rakesh Sharma. In the suicide note, the girl wrote that Rakesh forced himself on her and is blackmailing her by making her obscene photos and videos. Police said that the girl has also made serious allegations against Rakesh’s parents. The suicide note states that Rakesh extorted more than Rs 2 lakh from the woman and threatened to make the photos and videos public if she refused to meet him.
‘Love affair between victim and accused revealed’
The police officer said, ‘The investigation has revealed a love affair between the victim and neighbour Rakesh Sharma. The recovered suicide note mentions harassment by Rakesh and his parents, which ultimately led to the cancellation of her marriage scheduled for March 3.’ Based on the complaint lodged by the victim’s family, a case has been registered under the relevant sections and raids are being conducted to arrest the accused. Singh said that the police have arrested Rakesh Sharma’s mother and efforts are on to arrest him.
