Foreign Secretary gave information about PM Modi’s visit to France
Giving information about PM Modi’s visit to the media in France, Misri said that the two leaders exchanged views on recent geopolitical developments in Europe, West Asia and the Indo-Pacific region and discussed issues of global and regional importance. Modi and Macron co-chaired the AI Action Summit in Paris, attended the India-France CEO Forum and later left for Marseille in the evening.
The foreign secretary said they flew to Marseille in the “French presidential aircraft” and described it as “an extraordinary gesture by President Macron, a symbol of the deep personal trust between the two leaders and their extraordinary respect for each other”. “You can say that India-France relations have truly touched new heights,” Misri said.
He said some bilateral discussions also took place in Marseille. “The discussions covered all aspects of our deep and diverse strategic partnership,” he said. The foreign secretary said they reviewed bilateral cooperation in the areas of defence, space and civil nuclear cooperation, health and people-to-people ties. Vikram Misri said AI was a “key area” of bilateral discussions between the two sides.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron called for enhancing trade and investment ties between the two countries and committed to further deepen their engagement in the Indo-Pacific region and various global forums and initiatives. After their long talks, the two leaders also underlined their commitment to take concrete actions to ensure that the global AI sector delivers beneficial social, economic, environmental results in public interest.
