Kota: The body of a 17-year-old NEET candidate was found on a railway track in Kota, Rajasthan, creating a stir. After initial investigation, the police have suspected that the reason behind the student’s suicide could be a ‘love affair’. Police said that the student’s body was found on the Delhi-Mumbai railway track near Dakaniya railway station on Wednesday and Thursday night. The identity card found on the body identified the deceased as Himanshu Singh Rajput, a resident of Buxar district of Bihar.

The deceased’s girlfriend had called friends

The police said that Rajput was preparing for NEET and was studying in a coaching institute in Kota. The Railway Police official said that on Wednesday night, Rajput’s girlfriend, who is studying in IIT, called his friends and told them that he might take some wrong step. When Rajput’s girlfriend told this, by the time his friends reached his room, he had already left.

The student had returned to his PG on Tuesday itself
Kota GRP DSP Shankar Lal said that the investigation of the case is going on and GRP will also investigate the love affair in this case. Giving more information about this case, GRP officer Ishwar Singh said that Rajput had returned from his home to PG on Tuesday. His family told the police that he never looked upset. The family did not get the postmortem done considering it an accident, after which the police handed over the body to the family. The police have registered a case in this matter and started further investigation.

A few days ago also a student had committed suicide

Let us tell you that a few days ago also a student had committed suicide in Kota allegedly due to ‘love affair’. Kota Police had told that on Tuesday morning, an 18-year-old NEET candidate committed suicide by hanging himself in his PG room. Ankush Meena, a resident of Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan, was preparing for NEET UG exam in Kota for one and a half years and was living in Pratap Nagar. Ankush did not leave any suicide note behind, but the police suspected suicide due to ‘love affair’. So far in 2025, a total of 8 students have committed suicide in Kota. (PTI)
