Washington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the mantra of ‘Make India Great Again’ (MIGA) on the lines of President Donald Trump’s famous statement ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA). He said that both these approaches together create a “MEGA” partnership for prosperity. Along with this, bilateral partnership is going to take it to new heights. He made these comments during a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump. The two leaders mainly discussed about preparing a new framework to expand bilateral partnership including the areas of defense, energy and critical technology.
MAGA and MIGA together form a “MEGA” partnership
PM Modi said on this occasion, “Everyone is familiar with US President Trump’s motto, ‘Make America Great Again’ i.e. ‘MAGA’. The people of India are also moving towards development at a fast pace on the path of heritage and development with the resolve of ‘Developed India 2047’. He said, “If I say in the language of America, then developed India means ‘Make India Great Again’ i.e. ‘MIGA’. When the United States and India work together, i.e. MAGA and MIGA together form a ‘MEGA’ partnership for prosperity and this ‘MEGA’ spirit gives new shape and scope to our goals.”
PM Modi mentioned ‘MIGA’
When the two leaders addressed the media after extensive bilateral talks, PM Modi mentioned ‘MIGA’ in the presence of Trump. During their meeting in the Oval Office, Trump warmly welcomed Prime Minister Modi by shaking hands and hugging him. He said, “We missed you a lot.” He also called PM Modi “a great friend” and “a wonderful person”. In his remarks, Prime Minister Modi congratulated Trump on being elected President for a second term and recalled the growing scope of India-US relations during the US leader’s first tenure in the White House.
India’s interest is paramount
“I firmly believe that in your second term, we will work with greater speed,” PM Modi said. The Prime Minister also mentioned that just as Trump “puts America’s national interest first”, “I will also put India’s national interest first”. “President Trump always puts America’s national interest first and like him, I also put India’s national interest above everything else,” he said.
