Pakistan: About 170 Pakistanis deported from Saudi Arabia, UAE and other countries in last two days

About 170 Pakistanis have been deported from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and other countries in the last two days. This information has come to light from media reports on Sunday.

Geo News quoted immigration sources as saying that Saudi authorities have deported 94 Pakistanis involved in begging, drug trafficking, illegal stay, escaping from jobs and violating contractual agreements. According to the news, some of them have also been blacklisted.

39 other Pakistanis were deported from the UAE in the last two days after serving sentences for illegal activities and other violations. Others were deported from Oman, Thailand, Iraq, the UK, Cyprus, Indonesia, Mauritania, Qatar and Tanzania.

Recently, Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has confirmed that 10 suspects have been deported from Saudi Arabia, who went to Saudi Arabia on Umrah visa, but were engaged in begging there. According to the Express Tribune report, Saudi Arabia had raised this issue with Pakistan several times in 2023 and demanded action.

Strict action against begging

In November 2023, Pakistan Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi had assured Saudi Arabia that effective action would be taken nationwide against Pakistanis misusing Umrah and Haj visas for begging. Under this, suspects going to beg were caught during a major operation at Karachi airport.
