Maharashtra: Former Maharashtra MLA Harshvardhan Jadhav was arrested on Monday on the instructions of a court in a 2014 case of assault on a policeman. Jadhav is accused of slapping a Nagpur police inspector. Officials gave this information. An official said that Jadhav did not appear in the Nagpur court, after which an arrest warrant was issued against him recently.

On Monday, Jadhav appeared in the judicial magistrate’s court, after which he was arrested and sent to judicial custody. A police officer said that however, Jadhav was admitted to the government Mayo Hospital after his health deteriorated. The court has ordered that he be taken to jail, so there is a strong possibility that the police will formally arrest him and send him to jail after completing the legal formalities.

However, the police will keep Harshvardhan Jadhav under observation for the next 24 hours as he is complaining of chest pain. After complaining of chest pain, Harshvardhan Jadhav has been kept under observation by doctors for 24 hours. Sonegaon police station officials said that Harshvardhan Jadhav had allegedly slapped police inspector Parag Jadhav at a meeting of Shiv Sena (undivided) chief Uddhav Thackeray at a hotel in December 2014.

What did Harshvardhan Jadhav say?

Harshvardhan Jadhav said after his arrest, “Those who fight for their self-respect will have to face the consequences. My lawyer was absent and even though I had health problems, he should have been there. If anything happens to me due to my health, I will have to face the consequences.”
