Two persons were injured, one of them critical, when a speeding Audi car hit a scooter on Delhi’s Lodhi Road, police said on Tuesday. The injured were identified as Naitik and Abhishek, who were rushed to a hospital by the car occupants, the official said. Additional Deputy Commissioner (South) Achin Garg said Naitik is stable while Abhishek’s condition remains critical. Police said the accident took place near Jorbagh post office when a speeding red Audi hit a scooter and then crashed into a tree. “At 11:45 am, a call was received at the police control room (PCR) informing the police about the accident,” Garg said.
Audi car hits scooter rider
According to police, two youths aged 19 and 21 were inside the car at the time of the incident. Both are students. Police said Naitik and Abhishek were returning home after visiting their grandmother when the mishap took place. Garg said, “We have registered an FIR against the accused. Delhi Police has taken both the people in the car into custody. At present, the police is investigating the CCTV footage. According to Delhi Police, the Audi car driver was doing rash driving. Additional DCP South Sachin Garg said, “Last night at around 12 o’clock we received a PCR call of an accident in front of Jorbagh Post Office, in which a red car and a scooty met with an accident.”
One injured in critical condition
He told that there were two people in the car, one is 19 years old and the other is 21 years old and the victims riding the scooter are 20 years and 14 years old. One victim is in critical condition and the other is slightly stable. The people driving the Audi car are students. We are checking the CCTV footage and local investigation is also being done. Legal action has already been taken. The father of one of the accused has a jewellery showroom and the other has an auto parts business in Gurgaon. The car is in the name of a jeweler, so most likely it is a jeweler’s name It is suspected that (the jeweller’s son) was running it, but that is also a part of the investigation.”
