In the meeting, senior party leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad and Om Prakash Dhankhar talked to the MLAs one by one and after knowing everyone’s opinion, the name of Rekha Gupta was announced. Earlier, many names were in discussion for the post of Chief Minister, but Rekha Gupta left everyone behind and won the race. With the announcement of her name, there was a festive atmosphere in the party office and the supporters celebrated a lot.

There is a festive atmosphere at the house of BJP MLA Rekha Gupta, who has been elected as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. Her supporters gathered outside the house in large numbers and welcomed her family with garlands. BJP workers celebrated with drums and burst crackers. Supporters are excited about Rekha Gupta’s election as Chief Minister. She will take oath as Chief Minister tomorrow at 11 am.

Rekha Gupta’s political journey
Rekha Gupta, who became MLA from Shalimar Bagh, has had a political journey full of struggle and achievements. Rekha Gupta was born on 19 July 1974 in Julana, Haryana. After graduating in Commerce from Delhi University, she obtained a Masters degree in Management and Arts. Her political journey started in 1993 with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
At the same time, in the year 1996-97, she became the President of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU). After this, in 2007 and 2012, she won the Municipal Corporation Councilor election from North Pitampura. In 2022, she was also the BJP candidate for the post of Mayor of Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD). In the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, she defeated the Aam Aadmi Party candidate from Shalimar Bagh seat by a margin of 29,595 votes.
Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony begin
At present, now Rekha Gupta has become the CM. Now preparations for her swearing-in ceremony are in full swing. This grand event will be organized after 11 am on Thursday, in which 25 to 30 thousand people have been invited.

Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, outgoing Chief Minister Atishi and Delhi Congress state president Devinder Yadav have also been invited to this ceremony. Apart from this, many top BJP leaders and other dignitaries will also be a part of this swearing-in ceremony.

Four women MLAs of BJP
In the Delhi Assembly elections, BJP’s Rekha Gupta defeated Aam Aadmi Party’s Bandana Kumari from Shalimar Bagh seat by 29,595 votes. Rekha Gupta got 68,200 votes, while Bandana Kumari got only 38,600 votes. At the same time, Poonam Sharma of BJP won from Wazirpur seat by defeating Neeraj Gupta of AAP. Shikha Roy of BJP defeated AAP’s big leader Saurabh Bhardwaj from Greater Kailash seat by a margin of 3,188 votes.
With these victories, BJP registered its strong comeback in Delhi. Along with this, BJP’s fourth woman MLA, BJP leader Neelam Pehelwan hoisted the victory flag from Najafgarh seat. However, out of these four women MLAs, Rekha Gupta was made the CM.
Who is Rekha Gupta, who became the Chief Minister of Delhi as soon as she became an MLA for the first time?

Rekha Gupta’s achievements
Rekha Gupta has focused on women’s welfare, education reform and community development in her political journey. She has provided facilities like swimming pool, gym, library and community hall in her area. Apart from this, she started health check-up camps for women and children. Conducted awareness campaigns against female foeticide and child labour.
Celebrations had started in her house even before her name was announced in the legislature party meeting. The family had already claimed that Rekha would become the CM. On the other hand, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva welcomed the party’s central observers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Om Prakash Dhankhar and election in-charge Baijayant Panda to elect the leader of the Delhi Legislature Party.
