West Bengal Accident: A 27-year-old woman died in an accident while trying to escape from molesting youths in West Bardhaman district of West Bengal. Police gave this information on Monday (February 24, 2025). Police said that the accused youth in another vehicle were chasing the car of the woman, an ‘event manager’ by profession.

Police said that the victim has been identified as Suchandra Chattopadhyay, a resident of Chinsura in Hooghly district. She was going to Gaya for a function with her three companions, when the accident took place in Panagarh at around 3 am. He said that the other two passengers in the car have suffered serious injuries.

White car started chasing

According to a senior police officer, the woman and her friends had refueled at a petrol pump, after which a white car carrying five people started chasing them. “As soon as Suchandra’s car reached the highway, the people in the other car started passing lewd comments at her and started driving recklessly,” the official said.

After this, while trying to avoid the accused’s vehicle, Suchandra’s car dangerously collided with the road divider and overturned. The official said that Suchandra, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, suffered serious injuries. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead.

All five accused were drunk

As soon as Suchandra’s car crashed, the five people in the other car abandoned their vehicle and fled from the spot. Police have seized both the cars. The official said that an FIR has been registered at the Kanksa police station. Initial investigation revealed that all five people were drunk while driving. The official said, “We have found glasses inside the car, which have traces of alcohol.” He said that the vehicle owner has been identified as a resident of Panagarh. A search operation has been launched to trace the suspects and Suchandra’s body has been sent for post-mortem. On the matter, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Samik Bhattacharya said, “Law and order has completely collapsed in West Bengal. The constitutional system has completely collapsed.”
