After the earth shook, everyone came out of their houses. Due to panic and fear, people remained outside their houses for some time. It is not yet known what was the epicenter of the earthquake.
According to the National Center for Seismology, the intensity of the earthquake was measured at 5.0. At the same time, it was 16 kilometers deep. An earthquake of magnitude 5 is considered moderate, in which things inside the house start shaking, there is a rattling sound and there is a possibility of minor damage, but it is not very dangerous.
Tremors felt last month too
Earlier also, earthquake tremors were felt in Assam on January 24 last month. The intensity was measured at 4.8 on the Richter scale, which was a mild earthquake. This caused panic among the people, but there was no damage or casualties. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), tremors were felt in some parts of the Northeast region on Friday midnight.
NCS had said that the epicenter of the earthquake was in Myanmar at a depth of 106 km from the surface of the earth. Tremors of the earthquake were felt in many parts of the northeastern states.
