The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may get its new national president by March 15. The election of the national president is to be held and it will happen after the party’s elections in the state units. However, the Delhi assembly elections and pending state unit elections have delayed the election of JP Nadda’s successor.
According to the BJP constitution, the election of the party’s national president cannot be held before elections in half the states. So far, the BJP has completed elections in 12 out of 28 states and 8 union territories. So far, the names of BJP state presidents have been announced in 12 states.
UP state president will be announced soon
The BJP will announce the district presidents of UP in 2 to 3 days. After that the election of the BJP president of UP will be held. UP BJP will get a new state president in a week to ten days.
BJP sources say that the election of state presidents of some other big states including UP and Bihar will be held in a week to ten days. The current president will remain in Bihar. The BJP is likely to hold elections in six states in the coming weeks to meet the criteria. After that the national president of BJP will be elected.
JP Nadda is the national president of BJP
JP Nadda was first nominated as the acting national president of the party on June 17, 2019 and he remained in this position till January 20, 2020. On January 20, 2020, he was elected as the 11th national president of the party and has been in this position since then.
Under the leadership of JP Nadda, the party has contested and won assembly elections in many states. Similarly, the party has returned to power again by winning the Lok Sabha elections.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the first president of BJP from 1980 to 1986. Lal Krishna Advani held this post for several terms.
