DELHI POLICE: Delhi Police arrested three members of a ‘honey trap racket’ who used to extort money from people by posing as fake police

The Delhi Police has arrested three members of a ‘honey trap racket’ who allegedly extorted money from people in the Rohini area by posing as fake police. Officials gave this information on Thursday. According to the police, the accused have been identified as Neeraj (36), Ashish (35) and Yogesh alias Dhillon (40), residents of Bahadurgarh in Haryana. Rohini Deputy Commissioner of Police Amit Goyal said, “On Wednesday, the police stopped two scooters near the Delhi Jal Board office in Vijay Vihar, one of the accused was wearing the uniform of a sub-inspector, while the other was carrying a bag containing additional uniforms.”

Suspects showed fake identity cards

According to the officer, when questioned, the suspects initially introduced themselves as Delhi Police officers and also showed fake identity cards. He said that however, when discrepancies were found in their statements, the police took them into custody for investigation and during interrogation, initially they tried to mislead the police, but later they confessed their involvement in several cases of extortion. The Deputy Commissioner of Police said, “The accused used to target the victims by posing as police officers conducting raids. They used fake identity cards and uniforms to intimidate people and extort money on false pretexts.”

Cases have been registered against the accused earlier as well

The officer said that Neeraj has been involved in extortion cases earlier as well and a case was registered against him under the Arms Act in Haryana. He said that a case was also registered against Yogesh under the Arms Act. In another case, a shameful incident of crime has come to light from South Delhi. Here a 15-year-old minor girl has been allegedly raped by her tuition teacher. Delhi Police has given information about this incident on Wednesday. Police has said that the matter came to light when the victim came to the police station with her father to lodge a complaint on Wednesday.
