Mamata Banerjee Ultimatum To Centre: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee, who had announced to walk away from the I.N.D.I.A alliance and contest the elections alone, has now given an ultimatum to the Central Government. Giving seven days to the Center to clear all dues on Friday (January 26), he said that if the Central government does not release funds within this time limit, the party will launch massive protests.
Banerjee made this comment after a program at Raj Bhavan to commemorate the 75th Republic Day. The Chief Minister said, ‘If the central government does not release funds, we (TMC) will start a massive protest.’
Central Government owes so much money to Bengal
News agency PTI, quoting the figures of the West Bengal government, has written that a huge amount of money is outstanding for West Bengal’s share with the central government. After the meeting, Banerjee had said that the Prime Minister proposed that state and central officials can sit together and resolve the issues. It is claimed that even after a long time, no action was taken on this matter.
