A youth from Agra, working as a manager in a private company in Mumbai, allegedly committed suicide here. After the suicide, a video of him has surfaced on social media in which he has blamed his wife for this. Police gave this information on Friday. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Sadar area Vinayak Bhosale said that the police have registered a case and started investigation. According to the police, Manav Sharma, a manager in a Mumbai firm and a resident of Defense Colony, Agra, married Niketa last year. Manav allegedly committed suicide at his home on the morning of February 24.
Committed suicide as soon as he came home
According to the complaint lodged with the police by his father Narendra Sharma, Manav (30) hanged himself in his room at five in the morning. The complaint alleges that on February 23, Manav and Niketa came to Agra and Manav went with Niketa to her parents’ house, where he was allegedly insulted. He returned to his house with his wife and committed suicide. According to the police, before committing suicide, Manav recorded a video on his mobile phone in which he blamed his wife for his suicide. Based on the complaint filed on Thursday, the police on Friday registered an FIR under Section 108 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and began investigations.
Video surfaced on social media
After the video of the case surfaced on social media, Niketa released a counter video statement. In her video, Niketa alleged that Manav used to misbehave, especially when he was drunk and that he had attempted suicide earlier as well, which she had intervened to stop. ACP Bhosale said that Manav’s post-mortem was conducted on February 24, but no formal complaint was lodged then. Manav’s sister later saw the video on his phone, following which a case was registered. ACP Bhosale said that Manav and Niketa’s relationship was sour.
Tried to commit suicide thrice before
Let us tell you that the deceased was working as a recruitment manager in TCS. Let us tell you that this entire incident happened on 24 February. Wife Nikita Sharma alleges that Manav used to beat her and he had attempted suicide thrice before this. Manav had happily left Nikita at her in-laws’ house. According to Nikita, Manav used to drink a lot and even on the day of suicide, he had told his sister-in-law that he would do something, but the sister-in-law asked Nikita to ignore all this. According to the police, a case has been registered in this case and investigation is going on. The police is also investigating the entire matter on the basis of the wife’s video.
