Maharashtra: Deputy CM Eknath Shinde compares Uddhav Thackeray to Nero and says he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

Pune: Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde on Friday took a dig at Shiv Sena (Ubatha) chief Uddhav Thackeray. He compared Uddhav Thackeray to Nero, who kept playing the flute while Rome was burning. Shinde also said that he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth

What else did Shinde say?

At the party’s thanksgiving rally in Junnar in Pune district, Shinde said that he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but he was born to bring golden days in the lives of common people. Shinde said that he wanted to make the common citizen a superman. Shinde rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray and split the Shiv Sena in June 2022, leading to the fall of the Thackeray-led Maharashtra government. Taking a dig at Thackeray, Shinde said that Nero was playing the flute when Rome was burning and his case is also the same.

On Friday, Shinde targeted Uddhav and said that he took a dip in the Maha Kumbh to wash away the sins of those who betrayed the people by abandoning the ideology of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. Shinde’s statement came at a time when Uddhav Thackeray targeted Shinde a day earlier by saying that taking a dip in the Ganga will not wash away the sin of betraying Maharashtra. Shinde also said that the accused in the rape incident at Swargate bus stand in Pune will be given the harshest punishment.

What did Uddhav say?

Uddhav had said that we should think when did we start saying Shri Ram instead of Ram-Ram while saluting? Some people betrayed Maharashtra and took a dip in the Ganga. No matter how many dips they take, they will still be termed as traitors. The sin they have committed will not be washed away. Now I have been given Ganga water. I feel proud. It is a matter of honour. There is no point in taking 50 boxes here and taking a dip in the Ganga there.
