Delhi: After the initiative of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, now a cheap canteen has started at Chennai airport as well. Earlier, ‘Udaan Yatri Cafe’ was started at Kolkata Airport, where passengers have started getting water, tea and snacks at cheap prices. This decision is a big relief for those passengers who were troubled by expensive food items at the airport.
Raghav Chadha had raised the issue of expensive food at the airport in Parliament last year. He had told that at many airports a water bottle is sold for Rs 100, tea for Rs 200-250 and small snacks are sold at very high prices. This had become a big financial burden for the common people.
Raghav Chadha had demanded from the government that there should be a cheap canteen at every airport, where food items are available to the general public at a reasonable price. He also said in Parliament, “The government had promised that even a person wearing slippers will be able to travel by plane, but the reality is that even a person wearing Bata shoes cannot afford the expensive food at the airport.” His demand received tremendous support from the public. People on social media also described it as a need of the general public.
After this initiative of Raghav Chadha, the government first started a cheap canteen named ‘Udaan Yatri Cafe’ at Kolkata Airport. Here passengers started getting water, tea, coffee and snacks at cheap rates. Now this facility has been started at Chennai Airport as well. The government says that soon this facility will be implemented at other big and small airports of the country so that every passenger can get the benefit.
After this decision, there is a wave of happiness among the passengers. Now they will not be forced to buy expensive tea-coffee and water bottles at the airport. Now food items will be available at reasonable prices in the cheap canteen, which will provide great relief to the general public.
When Raghav Chadha raised this issue in Parliament, he was praised on social media. Many passengers called it a fight for the rights of the people. Counselor Konchok Stanzin of Chushul area of Ladakh also praised this decision and said, “The people of Ladakh are already troubled by expensive air fares, now they were also struggling with expensive food at the airport. This effort of Raghav Chadha is commendable.”
This is just the beginning – Raghav Chadha
Raghav Chadha welcomed this move of the government, but said that this is just a beginning. He demanded that cheap canteens should be started at all the airports of the country as soon as possible. He wrote on social media, “Even a small spark can illuminate the darkness, first Kolkata, now Chennai! Happy that cheap canteens are being started at airports. Thanks to all the people who supported this demand. Every small effort brings a big change.”
Cheap canteens will soon open in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru
According to the government, ‘Udaan Yatri Café’ will soon be implemented in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and other major airports. This will benefit millions of passengers.
