Maharashtra: There is a stir in the politics of Maharashtra. Continuous allegations are being made against Eknath Shinde through the mouthpiece of Shiv Sena (UBT) ‘Saamana’. Political tension and rhetoric has increased between Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde in recent months. Sanjay Raut is seen attacking Eknath Shinde through ‘Saamana’ and on the other hand praising CM Devendra Fadnavis.

The strategy of Shiv Sena (UBT) mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ seems to have changed. Through this, PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were always attacked, but in recent times, an attempt is being made to corner Shinde through this paper.

What was written against Shinde through ‘Saamana’?

  • The relationship between Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is tense, which is hindering the development of the state.
  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah had promised Shinde that the 2024 assembly elections would be fought under his leadership and he would continue as the Chief Minister, but this promise was not fulfilled after the elections, due to which Shinde is feeling cheated.
  • Shinde’s era is now over and BJP has fulfilled his need. He has predicted that BJP can now break Shinde’s party as well, as they have done with other allies before.

Uddhav Thackeray’s growing closeness with Fadnavis!

Shiv Sena (UBT) is seen attacking Eknath Shinde on one hand and on the other hand, getting closer to Devendra Fadnavis as there has been a meeting between Uddhav Thackeray and Fadnavis in the last few days. It is being said that the work of giving a clean chit to CM Devendra Fadnavis by attacking the Shinde faction is going on through ‘Saamana’.

Fadnavis and Uddhav Thackeray meet

Maharashtra politics has seen an improvement in the relationship between Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray. The two leaders met during the assembly session in Nagpur in December 2024, which was their first meeting after the assembly elections. After this meeting, Uddhav Thackeray congratulated Fadnavis on becoming the Chief Minister and discussed the role of the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly.

In February 2025, Chief Minister Fadnavis met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray and also met the leaders of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) in the evening of the same day.

Appreciation of development projects in Gadchiroli

‘Saamana’ had praised Chief Minister Fadnavis’ visit to Gadchiroli district and the launch of development projects there. In the editorial, Fadnavis was even called ‘Gadchiroli ka Messiah’, which created a stir in the state politics.

‘Saamana’s stand on appointment of OSD of ministers

‘Saamana’ also praised CM Devendra Fadnavis’ decision to withdraw the authority to appoint Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and Private Secretary (PS) of ministers. In the editorial, it was described as a strong step against corruption, which will help in bringing discipline in state governance.

Eknath Shinde’s Operation Tiger

After Maharashtra Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, Eknath Shinde has started Operation Tiger. Through which Shinde is trying to break the MPs and MLAs of his opponent Uddhav Thackeray. So far, 6 out of 9 MPs and 5 MLAs of Shiv Sena (UBT) are said to be in contact with Eknath Shinde.

Why did Ajit Pawar say to Eknath Shinde in front of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, ‘You keep your CM chair…’

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar held a joint press conference before the Maharashtra budget session starting from Monday (March 3). During this, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that we invited the opposition for high tea, but they boycotted it.

During the press conference, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde jokingly said that Devendra Fadnavis and I have exchanged the chair (CM and DCM post) but Ajit Pawar’s chair (Deputy Chief Minister post) is fixed. On which there was laughter. Then Ajit Pawar said that if you could not keep your chair fixed then what should I do. Then Shinde said that we have exchanged the chair with mutual consent.

After this, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde said that there is no cold war between the CM and me, everything is fine in this heat. No matter how much breaking you do, there will be no break between us.

Earlier, CM Devendra Fadnavis said about the budget, “The budget session is going to start from tomorrow. The opposition has given us a 9-page letter. The opposition’s position is like ‘Hum Aapke Hain Kaun?’, not ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’. They got a chance for fluent conversation, but they did not attend ‘Chahapana’ (breakfast meeting before the budget session). The letter they have given us is based only on newspaper articles. We will give a long time to the opposition to speak in the House.”

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said, “The opposition did not attend the meeting today before the budget session. The opposition has sent us a letter. We will definitely try to run this session smoothly.”

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said, “This is the second session of our government. Only we (Devendra Fadnavis and I) have changed roles. But yes, Ajit Dada’s role is stable. We have started many projects which were stopped by the MVA government. Ajit Dada will present the budget of Maharashtra.”
