Karnataka IPS officer Roopa D Moudgil is once again in the news. A junior female police officer has made serious allegations against her. DIG Vartika Katiyar has accused IG Roopa and said that she kept secret documents in my chamber without my permission. She did this in my absence and for this Roopa used two police personnel.
Inspector General of Police D Roopa and DIG Vartika are both currently posted in the Internal Security Division (ISD). The complaint was filed on February 20 before Karnataka Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh and sent to Director General of Police Alok Mohan. IPS Roopa is a 2000 batch IPS officer while Vartika Katiyar is a 2010 batch IPS officer.
What did DIG Vartika say in the complaint?
DIG Vartika Katiyar alleged that on September 6, 2024, Head Constable Manjunath TS and Home Guard Mallikarjuna entered her chamber after receiving instructions from Roopa to keep some files and also took photographs. The photographs were shared on WhatsApp. According to the complaint, in the absence of Katiyar, Manjunath and Mallikarjuna entered her (Vartika’s) chamber with the keys from the control room.
DIG Vartika said that I came to know about this matter recently. She said that many such incidents may have happened in the past, but this has come to my notice. Vartika said that such incidents may be repeated in the future and if anything goes wrong, D Roopa will be directly responsible for it. Vartika said that Roopa had also threatened to submit a negative annual report against me.
Roopa’s old dispute with IAS Rohini
In Karnataka, IPS Roopa has also had an old dispute with IAS Rohini Sindhuri. Roopa had made 19 allegations against IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri, which included allegations like sending pictures to male officers, corruption.
The dispute between the two officers grew so much that after the lower court and the High Court, the matter reached the Supreme Court. Both the officers had to remain without posting for months. The case was related to criminal defamation.
