Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday reiterated that the Ladki Bahin scheme will continue. The CM said that his government is working to ensure that the beneficiaries of financial assistance given under it get the benefit. Fadnavis was participating in the discussion organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day in the Assembly.
The scheme will not be abolished – Fadnavis
International Women’s Day will be celebrated on March 8. The Chief Minister said, ‘The Ladki Bahin scheme will not be abolished. The state government is working to ensure that the beneficiaries get the benefit of financial assistance. The scheme will be implemented effectively.’
Rs 17,505.90 crore distributed so far
The government’s pre-budget economic survey presented in the Assembly today said that Rs 17,505.90 crore has been transferred to the bank accounts of 2.38 crore women beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin scheme till December 2024.
The scheme was launched in August last year
The flagship scheme of the previous Eknath Shinde-led government, ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Behen Yojana’, was formally launched in August last year. Under this scheme, eligible women get financial assistance of Rs 1,500 per month through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Also praised Shivaji and Holkar
Chief Minister Fadnavis also praised Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Ahilyabai Holkar and said that they showed everyone how to run a welfare state in the era of monarchy.
