Donald Trump On Russia Sanctions: US President Donald Trump said on Friday, March 7, that the US is seriously considering imposing banking sanctions and tariffs on Russia until a ceasefire and peace agreement is reached with Ukraine. Trump’s statement came after reports on March 4 claimed that the Trump administration was planning to give sanctions relief to Russia to restore relations with Moscow and end the war in Ukraine.

According to a Reuters report on March 4, the White House had directed the State and Finance departments to prepare a list of sanctions that could be discussed with Russian representatives. The purpose of this discussion was to improve diplomatic and economic relations with Moscow.

However, Trump’s plan was also criticized, it was said that after Trump’s decision, all sanctions imposed on Russia would be lifted. Many critics believed that lifting the sanctions could give Russian President Vladimir Putin the financial help he needs to continue his military operations, which could hinder peace talks with Ukraine. However, instead of giving relief, Trump has now announced more sanctions on Russia.
