A shocking incident has come to light from Hampi, a famous tourist spot in Karnataka. Here, unknown people raped 2 women including a foreign female tourist. Along with this, their 3 male companions were beaten up and thrown into the water. The body of one of these people has been recovered from near the canal. According to the police, this incident took place between 11-11:30 pm on Thursday night. Unknown miscreants raped a 27-year-old female Israeli tourist and a 29-year-old female operator of a homestay on the banks of the popular Sanapur Lake near Hampi. The body of a male tourist from Odisha, who was with both of them at the time of the crime, has been found. The criminals pushed him into the Tungabhadra canal, while two other male tourists from America and Maharashtra have been injured. The injured are undergoing treatment at a government hospital.
Case near Sanapur Lake
The special team of the police is searching for the accused involved in this incident. Sanapur Lake is about 4 km from Hampi and is a major attraction among foreign tourists. In this regard, a case has been registered at Gangavathi Rural Police Station under sections 309 (6) (theft or extortion), 311 (robbery with intent to cause death or grievous hurt), 64 (rape), 70 (1) (gang rape), 109 (attempt to murder) of the BNS. According to the FIR, the incident took place when four tourists and the female operator of the homestay were enjoying music near Sanapur Lake.
The accused asked for the address of a petrol pump
Meanwhile, three bike-borne men approached them and asked where they could get petrol? When the homestay operator told them that there was no petrol pump nearby, the three demanded cash from them. When the five refused to give any money, these miscreants, who spoke Kannada and Telugu, started abusing and beating them, after which they pushed the three male tourists into the canal. A female victim who filed the complaint said that while the male tourists were struggling to come out of the canal, two of the three accused raped her and the Israeli female tourist. One male tourist has died, whose body was found near the canal. Efforts are being made to nab the accused.
Case registered on woman’s complaint
Koppal SP Ram L Arsadi said, “According to the information we received, 5 people were attacked near Sanapur. These include two women and three men. Out of these, 2 are foreigners (one American man and one Israeli woman). The woman said in her complaint that all of them were beaten up and the women were also sexually assaulted. The accused are being identified. The special team is investigating. The incident happened on Thursday night around 11-11:30. Taking immediate action on the woman’s complaint, an FIR has been registered. They have been medically examined. The rape will be confirmed after the final report comes, but the woman is claiming this. Right now they have been brought to the government hospital, if they want, they will be shifted to a private hospital. We will catch the accused as soon as possible.”
