In which he has shared the photo of the country where he has taken citizenship. Vanuatu’s Prime Minister Jotham Napat approved the issuance of his passport. Lalit Modi has shared this photo after the Prime Minister of Vanuatu directed the Citizenship Commission to cancel his Vanuatu passport.

What did he write on social media?

After sharing the photo, Lalit Modi wrote on his social media account, “Vanatu is a beautiful country. You must include it in your travel list. Away from pollution and noise. Truly a paradise-like country.” Apart from this, he also shared the photo on Instagram. He wrote in the Insta post that beautiful sea in a beautiful country.

Left the country in 2010

According to the information, on March 7, Lalit Modi filed an application to deposit his Indian passport in the Indian High Commission in London. After this, this thing came to light. Since then, it is believed that Lalit has taken citizenship of the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu. Lalit left India in 2010 and since then it was claimed that he is living in London.

Vanatu cancels passport

The official media statement issued by the Republic of Vanuatu said, “I have instructed the Citizenship Commission to cancel the Vanuatu passport issued to Lalit Modi following recent revelations in the international media.”

It further said, “All standard background checks, including the Interpol screening done during his application, revealed no criminal convictions. I have learned in the last 24 hours that Interpol has twice rejected requests from Indian authorities to issue an alert notice on Lalit Modi for lack of sufficient judicial evidence.”

What is the allegation against Lalit Modi

Lalit Modi, a former vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is accused of IPL bid rigging, money laundering and violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA). He left India in 2010 while being investigated for financial irregularities including unauthorized fund transfers.

If Lalit Modi’s request to cancel his Indian passport is accepted, he may become an illegal foreigner in the UK as Vanuatu is also cancelling his citizenship.
