During this, the Prime Minister of Mauritius has announced to honour PM Modi with his highest award Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean. PM Modi is the first Indian to receive this honour. So far 21 countries have honoured PM Modi with their highest honour.
PM Modi on a two-day visit to Mauritius
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Mauritius President Dharam Gokhool on Tuesday. During this, the two leaders discussed further strengthening bilateral relations. Prime Minister Modi, who arrived in Mauritius on a two-day state visit on Tuesday morning, met Gokhool at the ‘State House’.
PM Modi wrote on the social media platform X, ‘Had a very good meeting with Mauritius President His Excellency Dharambir Gokhool. He is well acquainted with India and Indian culture. I expressed my gratitude for inviting me to be a part of the National Day celebrations of Mauritius. We discussed ways to further promote bilateral relations in various fields.
PM Modi gave special gifts to Mauritius Prime Minister
Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that during the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on deepening the special and close bilateral relations between India and Mauritius. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, they recalled the shared history between the two countries and the strong ties between the people of the two countries. Prime Minister Modi said that it is an honor for him to attend the National Day celebrations of Mauritius as the chief guest for the second time. Prime Minister Modi handed over OCI cards to President Gokhool and First Lady Vrinda Gokhool as a special honor. He also presented the holy water of Sangam in brass and copper vessels from Maha Kumbh to President Gokhool as a gift. Modi also presented Bihar’s superfood Makhana to Gokhool.
