The Home Ministry has banned two organizations of Jammu and Kashmir to curb terrorist incidents.

The central government has banned two organizations of Jammu and Kashmir, Awami Action Committee (AAC) and Jammu and Kashmir Ittehadul Muslimeen. For this, a notification has been issued by the Home Ministry. The Home Ministry has declared the Jammu and Kashmir-based Awami Action Committee as an illegal organization with immediate effect under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

The government imposed a ban for 5 years

These two organizations include the Awami Action Committee (AAC) headed by Omar Farooq and the Jammu and Kashmir Ittehadul Muslimeen (JKIM) led by Masroor Abbas Ansari. The central government has banned both AMC and Jammu and Kashmir Ittehadul Muslimeen for the next five years. The Home Ministry alleged that its members have been involved in terrorist activities and anti-India propaganda to promote separatism in the Union Territory.

Detrimental to the integrity, sovereignty and security of the country
The Home Ministry notification said that the organization is also involved in unlawful activities, which are detrimental to the integrity, sovereignty and security of the country. In another notification, the ministry said that JKIM has been involved in unlawful activities, which are detrimental to the integrity, sovereignty and security of the country.

Promoting separatism in Jammu and Kashmir
The Home Ministry said that members of the organization have been found involved in terrorist activities and anti-India propaganda to promote separatism in Jammu and Kashmir. Both the notifications said that considering all the available facts, the Home Ministry has declared both the organizations as banned organizations for five years under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
