Ratnagiri Police has denied reports of forceful entry of one community into the place of worship of another community during Holi festival. Police have told that the traditions of Konkan in Maharashtra are different, in which there is a practice called ‘Madachi Mirvanuk’. In this, the procession of Holi is brought to the door of the mosque and the wood is touched by the stairs of the mosque. Every year, people of the Muslim community also participate in this procession.
What happened on the 12th?
According to the information received from Ratnagiri Police, this is a tradition that has been going on for a long time, in which Shimga i.e. a big tree is cut and taken around the city and then taken for Holika Dahan by touching it to the stairs of the mosque. But on the 12th, some people from the Hindu side got overexcited, after which the tree went too deep inside. A case has been registered against 13 people from the Hindu side in Rajapur Police Station of Ratnagiri and investigation is going on.

The police have said that a lot of rumors are being spread on social media regarding this video, which is baseless. The Muslim side also plays an important role in this practice and offers coconut. According to Ratnagiri SP Dhananjay Kulkarni, a case has been registered against 13 people under Section 135 of Maharashtra Police Act and Unlawful Assembly in this entire matter. Action is also being taken against accounts spreading rumours on social media. At present, the situation is completely calm.
