The statue of Constitution maker Dr. B.R. Ambedkar disappeared two days after it was installed in a village in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, after which the police have registered a case of theft. Police say that the accused will be arrested soon. Dr. Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891 in Mhow Cantonment town of Indore district.
The one and a half feet high statue was installed in an open space in the village
The police said that the one and a half feet high statue was installed in an open space in Bari village of the district on Tuesday. Additional Superintendent of Police Vidita Dagar said, “We have received a complaint of theft of Dr. Ambedkar’s statue in Bari village of Garhi Malhara police station area, about 12 km from the district headquarters.” He said that a case has been registered and the accused will be arrested soon. Dr. Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891 in Mhow Cantonment town of Indore district.
Some people want to grab the land – Villagers
This morning, when Ambedkar’s statue was not seen, the villagers informed the police. After this, Bhim Army workers sat on a dharna. Villagers say that some people want to grab this land, that is why they have stolen the statue. This matter was also raised in the public hearing.
Villagers had bought the statue after depositing the amount
Bari village sarpanch Asharam Ahirwar said that the villagers had bought the statue of Dr. Ambedkar from Uttar Pradesh after depositing the amount. He said, “The stone statue was 18 inches high and was installed in the village only two days ago.” The sarpanch claimed that the police have detained two people in connection with the theft and they are being questioned.
