India and France have agreed to create a new road map on industrial cooperation to identify opportunities for partnership in this sector, including co-designing, co-development and co-production of military hardware. Both countries will jointly build a multi-mission helicopter. Top officials said on Friday (January 26) that French engine manufacturer Safran wants to transfer 100% technology to make fighter jet engines in India.

Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said that both the countries will cooperate in defense space partnership, satellite launch, joint research in clean energy, cooperation in health care, cooperation in the sector of public administration and validity of Schengen visa for Indian students pursuing master’s degree in France. An agreement has also been reached to activate it for five years.
H125 helicopters will also be produced in India
Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said that Tata and Airbus Helicopters will partner to produce H125 helicopters in India with significant indigenous and localization components. This will be India’s first helicopter assembly line in the private sector under the government’s “Make in India” initiative. Production of the first H125 helicopter made in India is expected to begin in 2026. Not only this, France can also step in to help India in designing and developing fighter jet engines.
