Congress leader Rahul Gandhi chaired a coordination committee meeting of his party’s Gujarat unit on Tuesday night, in which he set the criteria for the promotion of leaders within the organization and distribution of tickets for the elections. In a press release issued by the Congress, it was told that the meeting held at the Circuit House was attended by party general secretary KC Venugopal and party’s state unit in-charge Mukul Wasnik, besides all the senior Congress leaders in the state.
Rahul Gandhi reviewed the performance of the state leaders and entrusted them with the task of defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2027 assembly elections. During this, Rahul Gandhi clearly said that only those who perform well will get promotion, the responsibility of every senior leader will be fixed and they will be assigned work accordingly.
District presidents will be made ministers
Rahul Gandhi said that leaders who fail to fulfill their responsibility will not get any post and those who are active only during the elections will not get the party ticket. He told the party leaders present in the meeting that tickets will be given to the workers and leaders who work among the people. He assured that the district presidents who perform well will be made ministers when the party comes to power in Gujarat.
People who have joined BJP will be identified
Rahul Gandhi had earlier told Congress workers in Gujarat that there is a need to remove some people from the party who have joined BJP. If we want to build a relationship with the people, then we have to do two things, the first thing is to identify the loyalists and BJP supporters. If we have to remove as many people as we want, then we should remove them. Criticizing those working for BJP, Rahul Gandhi had said that you are working for BJP from the inside. There is no place for you here.
Pilot project to start today
Let us tell you that Rahul Gandhi will address party workers in Modasa of Aravalli district today and will start the pilot project of selecting district presidents. Congress has been out of power in Gujarat for more than three decades. This visit of Rahul is taking place after the Congress convention in Ahmedabad on 8 and 9 April. Before that Rahul Gandhi had visited the state in March.
