Delhi: Secretary cum Labour Commissioner said the government has increased the notified rates of minimum wages for skilled and unskilled workers

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Delhi has increased the remuneration of skilled and unskilled workers employed by it to provide them relief amid rising inflation. Delhi Secretary cum Labor Commissioner said in a statement that the government has increased the notified rates of minimum wages for skilled and unskilled workers. This increase has been done due to the rates of dearness allowance announced by the Center.

The Delhi government said that this step has been taken to improve the living standards of the workers. This wage increase will increase the purchasing power of the workers amid rising inflation and provide economic stability to their families. The government has described it as an important step towards social justice and inclusive development.

Electricity subsidy will continue
The Delhi government on Tuesday approved the extension of its electric vehicle (EV) policy for three months and continuation of power subsidy in the national capital. The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also approved the continuation of the existing power subsidy for four categories. These four categories are – domestic consumers, farmers, lawyers with chambers and victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Later, Transport Minister Pankaj Singh said that there will be no ban on three-wheelers or any other category of vehicles. He said that the government wants to do many things for its residents, and we will include them in the revised EV policy. Home Minister Ashish Sood, commenting on the misinformation spreading about discontinuation of electricity subsidy, said that the Cabinet has approved a special proposal to increase the subsidy benefiting farmers and lawyers, as well as ensure continued assistance to riot victims.

Crackdown on arbitrary fee hike
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Tuesday that notices have been issued to schools against which complaints of arbitrary fee hike have been received. The Chief Minister said that answers have been sought from these schools, strict action will be taken against them if no answer is received.
