BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia – Mamata Banerjee is giving protection to the rioters keeping in mind the assembly elections to be held next year.

Mamata Banerjee Meeting With Maulvi: BJP on Thursday 17 April criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for meeting with Muslim clerics in the state. The ruling party at the Center accused Mamata of protecting rioters to appease the minority community in view of the assembly elections to be held next year.

Mamata Banerjee, while addressing a meeting with Muslim clerics in Kolkata on Wednesday, termed the recent communal violence in Murshidabad district as pre-planned. She accused the Border Security Force, central agencies and BJP of creating tension by calling outsiders and infiltrating from Bangladesh.

‘Chief Minister is doing politics of appeasement’

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said, “Instead of being with the victims of communal violence, the Chief Minister is doing politics of appeasement and giving a message to the rioters that they need not worry, as she is with them.”

Gaurav Bhatia alleged that Mamata Banerjee is protecting the rioters to send a big message to the members of a community in view of the assembly elections to be held in West Bengal next year. He said, ‘BJP stands firmly with the Hindu society and every victim family. We will ensure that they get justice.’

Criticism of Mamata Banerjee for refusing to implement Waqf law

Bhatia criticized Mamata Banerjee for refusing to implement the Waqf law in West Bengal. He questioned how a Chief Minister who has taken oath on the Constitution can say so when the said law has been passed by Parliament and notified by the Center after the consent of President Draupadi Murmu.

Bhatia’s remarks come after communal violence over the Waqf law in Muslim-dominated Murshidabad district, in which three people died and many others were injured last week.
