Solapur: Renowned neurologist Shirish Valsangkar allegedly shot himself with his licensed revolver on Friday and died. Solapur Police Commissioner M Rajkumar confirmed the incident. Rajkumar said that the incident took place at 8.45 pm and the treating doctors later declared him dead. Valsangkar committed suicide at his residence in Modi Niwas in Solapur. Valsangkar is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
Valsangkar’s entire family is doctors
Let us tell you that Dr. Shirish Valsangkar was a respected neurologist in Solapur. He spoke Marathi, Kannada, English and Hindi, which made communication with patients easy. His qualifications include MBBS and MD MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians of London. Dr. Valsangkar belonged to a doctor’s family. His son was a neurologist, daughter-in-law was a neurosurgeon and wife was a gynecologist. He was awarded the Best Neurologist Award by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for his outstanding contribution to neurological services.
Used to visit in his own helicopter
The reason why Dr. Shirish Valsangkar committed suicide is not yet known. He used to go to Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra to treat people. He used to visit in his own helicopter.
Had reduced practice
Dr. Shirish Valsangkar had reduced his practice for several days due to domestic reasons. As soon as his practice reduced, the shocking incident of his suicide came to light. He shot himself with two bullets in the head with a gun at his residence. The family immediately admitted Dr. Shirish Valsangkar in his own hospital for treatment in an injured condition. However, while the treatment was going on, Dr. Shirish Valsangkar died.
