New Delhi: US Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha Vance are arriving on a four-day visit to India on Monday (April 21). JD Vance will meet PM Modi during this visit. Vance’s visit to India is taking place at a time when US President Donald Trump has started a tariff war.
Will reach Palam Air Force Station at 10 am
The Ministry of External Affairs said that he will be welcomed at the Air Force Station in Palam at 10:00 am. A few hours after reaching Delhi, Vance and his family will visit the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple and they can also visit a ‘shopping complex’ selling traditional Indian handmade goods. On Vance’s arrival in India, a senior cabinet minister of the Union will welcome him at the Palam Airbase. Vance will also visit Jaipur and Agra along with his family apart from Delhi. Officials aware of the matter said that at least five senior officials, including officials of the US Defense Ministry and the Ministry of External Affairs, are likely to accompany Vance to India.
Vance to arrive with his family at PM residence on Monday evening
Prime Minister Modi will welcome Vance and his family at his 7 Lok Kalyan Marg residence at 6.30 pm on Monday, after which official talks will be held. Officials said the meeting is likely to discuss the proposed bilateral trade treaty as well as ways to boost ties between the two countries. They said External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and India’s Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra are likely to be part of the Indian delegation led by Prime Minister Modi. Modi will host a dinner for Vance and the US officials accompanying him after the talks.
Vice President Vance to stay at ITC Maurya Sheraton Hotel
The US Vice President and his family will stay at the ITC Maurya Sheraton Hotel in Delhi. Officials said Vance and his family will leave for Jaipur on Monday night. Vance will visit several historical sites including the Amer Fort on April 22. The fort is a UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage Site. Vance will address a gathering at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur in the afternoon. In his speech, Vance is likely to talk about the broad aspects of India-US relations under the Trump administration in the US. Diplomats, foreign policy experts, Indian government officials and academics are likely to attend the event.
Agra visit on April 23
Officials said the US Vice President and his family will likely visit Agra on the morning of April 23. They will visit the Taj Mahal and Shilpgram. Shilpgram is an open emporium showcasing various Indian artefacts. After visiting Agra, Vance will return to Jaipur on April 23. Officials said the US Vice President and his family will leave for the US from Jaipur on April 24. In Jaipur, Vance will stay at the grand Rambagh Palace, a luxurious hotel and once a guest house for royals. Vance will come to Delhi after concluding his visit to Italy.
