Delhi government has banned the leave of officers of PWD, Delhi Jal Board and Irrigation and Flood Control departments till September 15, know why

A big news has come out from the national capital. The Delhi government has banned the leave of officers of three departments to prepare for the upcoming monsoon. This includes Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and Irrigation and Flood Control Department. According to the information received, the government has banned the leave of officers till September 15. An order has been issued in this regard.

Citing the order of the General Administration Department i.e. GAD, officials said that leave of any employee of any level above Junior Engineer will not be approved or recommended till September 15, except in case of extreme medical emergency.

What was said in the order?

The order said, “As the monsoon is approaching, large scale work will have to be done to clean the drains, prevent waterlogging and flooding, repair roads and remove debris and silt deposited in roads and drains across the city.”

400 waterlogged spots identified
Authorities in the national capital have identified more than 400 waterlogged spots in the last few years. The problem of waterlogging recurs during monsoon due to several reasons including old drains and silt accumulation. Water and Public Works Minister Pravesh Verma had said that all 1,400 km of drains under the Public Works Department will be cleaned by May 31 and other agencies are also working to clean drains under their jurisdiction.
