A major accident has happened in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Seven people died when a 20 feet long portion collapsed during Chandnotsav at Sri Varahalakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple here. According to District Collector Harendra Prasad, Chandnotsav program was going on at Sri Varahalakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple. There was a huge crowd in the temple. Meanwhile, suddenly a 20 feet long part of the temple collapsed. Giving information, he said that seven people have died and four people were injured in the accident. The injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Search and rescue operations are underway by SDRF and NDRF.

Thousands of devotees had gathered for darshan
According to the information, the accident happened around 2:30 in the night. Chandanotsavam program was going on in the temple on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. On this auspicious occasion, it is believed that Lord Varah Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy gives darshan to the devotees in his real form. For this, there was a huge crowd of devotees in the temple. Due to the pressure of the crowd, a 20 feet long part of the temple suddenly collapsed, due to which many people got trapped in the debris. After the accident, there was a scream at the spot. As soon as the information was received, police officers reached the spot.

SDRF and NDRF teams were called. Relief and rescue work was started. People buried under the debris were taken out. Seven people died in the accident. According to an SDRF jawan, “Seven people died in the incident. The injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment. We immediately reached the spot as soon as we got information about the incident.” On this incident, former BJP MLC Madhav said, “This is an unfortunate incident that happened on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. It happened at 2.30 am. The government will investigate the incident and provide compensation to the victims.”
