Operation Sindoor: DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai said that 35-40 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the clash and New Delhi achieved its targets

Indian Army On Operation Sindoor: India has inflicted heavy damage on Pakistan during the three-day military conflict, including shooting down some of the latest technology fighter jets of the Pakistani army and damaging key military bases near the capital Islamabad. The Indian Army gave this information on Sunday (May 11, 2025). DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai said that 35-40 Pakistani military personnel were killed in the conflict and New Delhi has achieved its targets. He said that if Pakistan dares to do anything, it will have to pay a heavy price.

The Indian Army admitted to light losses, although refused to give details due to the ongoing operation. Air Marshal AK Bharti told reporters, “We are in a fighting position and losses are part of the fight. The question is, have we achieved our goal of destroying terrorist camps? The answer is yes.” He said, “All I can say is that we have achieved the targets we had set and all our pilots have returned home safely.” The officer was asked about reports in foreign media about the loss of Indian fighter planes.

More than 100 terrorists killed

Senior military officials of the Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy gave details of ‘Operation Sindoor’ in a press conference, describing how India foiled Pakistan’s plans to target Indian military bases and civilian areas. Lieutenant General Ghai said that more than 100 terrorists, including Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf and Mudassir Ahmed, involved in the hijacking of IC 814 and the Pulwama blast, were killed during ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7.

How many Pakistani aircraft were shot down?

In response to a question, Air Marshal A.K. Bharti said that India has definitely shot down some Pakistani planes, but he refused to give any estimate about the number. He said, “Their (Pakistan) planes were prevented from entering inside our border. So we do not have the debris, but we have definitely shot down some planes.”

DGMO Lieutenant General Ghai also paid tribute to the five Indian heroes and civilians who “unfortunately lost their lives” during ‘Operation Sindoor’. He said, “We have exercised a lot of restraint so far and our action has been focused, measured and did not escalate tensions. However, any threat to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of our citizens will be dealt with decisively with full force.”

Regarding the loss suffered by the Pakistani army, the DGMO said that 35-40 military personnel are reported to have been killed. The DGMO said that his Pakistani counterpart had called him yesterday afternoon and requested to find a way to stop the conflict. Pakistan panicked over attack on Pakistani military bases

The Indian Army said that this call from the DGMO of Pakistan came after the Indian Armed Forces launched a fierce retaliatory attack on several Pakistani military bases including Rafiki, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur and Chunian on Saturday (May 10, 2025) morning. He said that after careful deliberations, nine terrorist bases were identified and attacked with precision weapons.

Director General of Naval Operations Vice Admiral AN Pramod said that after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the Indian Navy’s carrier battle group, submarines and aviation assets were immediately deployed in the sea with full combat readiness. Vice Admiral AN Pramod said that the naval forces are deployed in a “preventive and deterrent” posture on the front line in the North Arabian Sea and they are fully prepared to attack selected targets at the time chosen by us on the sea and land, including Karachi.

Vice Admiral Pramod said that the advance deployment of the Indian Navy forced the Pakistani naval and air units to remain in a defensive posture, which was mostly inside the ports or very close to their coast. He said, “The Indian Navy maintained uninterrupted awareness in the maritime domain throughout the time and was fully aware of the position and movement of Pakistani units.” DGNO said, “As part of India’s well-thought-out approach, we considered all options, including the Indian Navy’s ability to take offensive action from the sea and inside the sea.”
