New Delhi: Amid the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, a big statement of the Chairman of ISRO has come to the fore. ISRO Chairman V Narayanan said during a program that 10 satellites are working round the clock for strategic purpose to ensure the safety of the citizens of the country. Let us tell you that he said this at the fifth convocation of the Central Agricultural University (CAU) in Agartala. He said, “If we want to ensure the security of our country, then we have to serve through our satellites. We have to monitor our 7,000 km of sea areas. Without satellite and drone technology, we cannot achieve much.”

India launched 127 satellites

Let us tell you that till now ISRO has launched a total of 127 Indian satellites. These also include satellites of private operators and educational institutions. Of these, 22 are in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and 29 in Geo-Synchronous Earth Orbit, which are owned by the Central Government. India has about a dozen spy or surveillance satellites. These include the Cartosat and Risat series as well as the EMISAT and Microsat series, which are designed for specific surveillance tasks.

52 satellites to be launched

In fact, a few days ago, Pawan Kumar Goenka, chairman of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe), said at the Global Space Exploration Conference 2025 that India would put a group of 52 satellites into orbit in the next five years to enhance space-based surveillance capabilities. Goenka said, “We already have quite strong capabilities. It just needs to be constantly enhanced.” He said that the scheme aims to enhance the surveillance capabilities of the defense sector. He said, “So far it was done mainly by ISRO. As we move forward, we will also involve the private sector in it.” The new satellites will help the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force keep an eye on enemy movements, monitor borders and improve real-time coordination during military operations.

India will be a great leader after 100 years of independence

Narayanan’s statement comes at a time when ISRO is scheduled to launch another surveillance satellite, EOS-09 (RISAT-1B) radar imaging satellite, into a sun-synchronous orbit on May 18, which will boost surveillance powers along India’s sensitive borders. He said advanced satellite technology is needed for the development of the common man. Narayanan predicted that India will become a great leader in every field before completing 100 years of its independence, the country will become an outstanding contributor to the world. He said ISRO and its many satellites are operational for the development of the northeastern states and the implementation of several projects in the region. He urged the students that after getting a degree, it is their responsibility to give something to the society.
