The updated version published in 2021 predicts a tsunami and boiling sea for July 2025. The prediction made by Ryo Tatsuki about July 2025 has shaken Japan’s tourism sector. According to reports, bookings at tourist hotspots have seen a decline of 30% to 50%. Foreign tourists, especially those coming from Taiwan, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, are seen in a state of fear. Many tourists have postponed or canceled their summer holidays. Some people are considering it a joke or a part of pop culture, while many are taking it seriously.
What is the apprehension about the prediction?
The “boiling sea” and “underwater crack” mentioned in Tatsuki’s warning falls in the Pacific Ring of Fire, which is geologically active. However, no institution such as JMA (Japan Meteorological Agency) or USGS has issued any such warning so far. There is no concrete scientific evidence to support the predictions. Japan already lives under constant monitoring of tsunamis and earthquakes. On this, Toho University geophysicist Prof. Takashi Kawamura says – this fear is a psychological effect, the basis of which is a manga, not any scientific analysis.
