Israeli army kills Hamas chief, IDF says another Sinwar killed

Israel has claimed to have killed the head of Hamas. This information has been given on the X account of the Israeli Defense Force. A post on the social media platform X reads, “We have killed the head of Hamas again. He is also Sinwar.” Let us tell you that Israel has talked about killing Hamas chief Mohammad Sinwar. Three days ago, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu also said that Hamas’ Gaza chief Mohammad Sinwar has been killed by the Israeli army.

Civilians were made shields

In fact, Israel carried out several major air strikes on May 14. During this time, reports of the Hamas chief being seriously injured had come to the fore. However, the Israeli PM had said that Sinwar was killed. At the same time, IDF and Shin Bet have said that the terrorists were active in the underground command center built under the European Hospital. They had deliberately made civilians shields and created a threat to his life. Rafah Brigade commander Muhammad Shabana and Mahdi Kuara of the South Khan Younis Battalion have also been killed in this attack.

Who was Mohammad Sinwar?

Muhammad Sinwar was the brother of former Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar, who was killed by the Israel Defense Force in October 2024. Muhammad Sinwar, one of the last remaining Hamas commanders in Gaza, was hiding in a bunker which the terrorist group Hamas was using as a command center. The Israel Defense Force attacked and destroyed Mohammad Sinwar’s hideout on 14 May via a drone. Sinwar, who was badly injured in the attack, was taken to the European Hospital in Khan Younis.

Demand for amendment in ceasefire agreement

Let us tell you that now Hamas has reacted to America’s latest ceasefire proposal for Gaza and demanded amendment in it. “There are some notes and amendments on some points, especially on US guarantees, the timing of the release of hostages, the supply of aid and the withdrawal of Israeli forces,” a senior Hamas official said on condition of anonymity. A separate Hamas statement said the proposal aims at a permanent ceasefire, Israel’s comprehensive withdrawal from Gaza and an assured flow of aid. Israeli officials have approved a US proposal for a temporary ceasefire in the nearly 20-month-long war. US President Donald Trump has said negotiators are close to an agreement.
